What's the status for ttf, static link, building from scratch?

I ask because it's unclear to me:

• the crates.io page claims ttf is supported and doesn't mention either linking nor build-from-source
• the docs.rs page recommends build-from-source and talks of build-from-source-static, but neither of them work:

error: failed to select a version for the requirement `sdl3-src = "^3.2.16"`
candidate versions found which didn't match: 3.2.12, 3.2.10, 3.2.8, ...
location searched: crates.io index
required by package `sdl3-sys v0.5.2+SDL3-3.2.16`

• the docs.rs page, contradictorily to the crates.io page, claims ttf isn't yet done

Is ttf + build-from-source-static something I would be projected to be able to do anytime soon?
