How do I calculate the event size in bytes?

Question

I want to include a custom key in each log event that records the event's size in bytes. This will allow me to generate reports later to calculate the total data volume sent by a specific service each day.

Can ideas?

Hmm, I don't see an easy way to do this. We could introduce a new function to do that. We could have a couple of modes too, like json (encode to json and measure length) and raw (Rust memory layout approximation).

Also, here is a workaround to help you calculate the total size of values (only):
total_size playground

You can use map_keys to add those as well.
