I expected this to work, but it didn't:

.object.key = "some value"
. |= parse_key_value!(del(.message))
.object.key = "some other value"

Error message:

error[E642]: parent path segment rejects this mutation

  │
3 │   .object.key = "some other value"
  │   ------- ^^^ querying a field of a non-object type is unsupported
  │   │
  │   this path resolves to a value of type string, boolean, undefined or array

Is this a bug?

This is using a1b2590 (current latest)

Hi @tshepang ! Thanks for the report. This turned out to be a bug that will be fixed by #15369
