Following npubs deletes Follows outside zap.stream

When following an npub while logged into zap.stream through a browser it deletes all previous npub follows from my daily client. In this case Primal.
Ex: Login to zap.stream in an incognito browser using nostr signing device. Once connected I'll select a new profile and "Follow". When I get back to my daily nostr client all my follows have been deleted except for those that I followed within zap.stream.

Tested with Amethyst and noStrudel. Cannot reproduce.
(Not tested on Primal. I don't use that client)

To follow up, muting a person on nostr (in this case noStrudel) doesn't show the same person as muted on ZS. Muting the person on ZS, doesn't show them for me as muted elsewhere.

Also, does ZS not hide streams from muted npubs any more? I muted all the npubs for the pirated sport events on ZS and still see them? Then muted them on noStrudel again, still see them on ZS.
