SMB Share for GITFS in containerised environment

Hello,

My question does not directly concern Uyuni, but the commercial offshoot of it (SUSE Multi Linux Manager 5.0).
I know that this is about the open source version, but basically the problem should be the same for both versions.

I have migrated from SUSE Manager 4.3 to 5.0. So far, everything has worked well, but until now, our software was integrated into SaltStack via a local mountpoint (CIFS share) via GITFS.

Now that SUSE Manager / Uyuni is running in a Podman container, it can no longer access the local mounts.
Does anyone know a persistent way to set up an SMB share that the new SUSE Manager in the container can access, which also survives updates of the container?

Hey @smox if you have a SUSE Manager license I would advise you to contact SUSE with the customer channels for a more complete support.
You can configure salt gitFS plugin in the container. If you run mgrctl term on the machine, you will be inside the container, and will have the same file system as in the 4.3 server.

Another option is to bind mount the machine local machine to inside the container. Look at the file /etc/systemd/system/uyuni-server.service.d/custom.conf and in there you can update the variable PODMAN_EXTRA_ARGS and pass extra podman arguments.
