how to ensure color matches on linked filtered selections

the chart on the left contains buckets, and on the right component items.
the colors indicate how they are linked

when you hover over a bar on the left it filters down the items in the chart on the right to show only the bars associated with that bucket:

but unfortunately now with the filtered data it recategorises the color and the colors no longer match.
i.e. in the example above all the bars on the right should be yellow to match the bar on the left.

do you know an elegant way to resolve this?

Have you tried colorDomain: Fixed within the plot specification? That should cause the colors to be computed once, then reused across updates.
