GPU virtualisation

Hi guys,

I don't know much about virtual machines, I just have a very basic concept of cpu architecture and emulation, so I was wandering if someone could explain to me what it means that "there is also no support for GPU virtualization so that means no DirectX or OpenGL."?

Does this mean there is no support yet or is it not altogether possible?
Thinking of the general idea of a VM where hardware is "simulated" would it not be possible to simulate a thunderbolt port, like a USB drive?
