More way to add task

If the plugin can provide more method to add, like "add to dairy", "add to a file" , I think it will be better for us to use.

I am actually thinking about this same and have few ideas, but I have to see how they will blend with the upcoming features.

One of the FR is this : #142
This will help to directly add a new task on the go without opening the predefined note. So as per your above "add to a file", i think this will be same. But if you are saying, you want to select the file to which the new tasks should be added, then will have to think more on this, how it should be implemented. Like whether the new task should be added on the top of the note or at the bottom of the note.

I went through the QuickAdd APIs, and it looks pretty interesting. Since they have done a lot of work on how to quickly add something at a specific place. But, I will have to see how this API integration will be possible and whether its really worth doing. Will need to think more.

For the "add to diary" are you referring to the daily notes ? I think that also will be a very good option to have, so the task will be directly added to the daily note. This command can be more useful I guess.

I had the idea previously, where in the "Add new task window", there will be a dropdown, where user can select to which note the task should be added to, but I dont know how many user will support this or will like it. This will basically going to add the new task at the end of the note.

I have an idea.
Is it possible to set a api for creating task, and return a task which is a string?
For example:

like what the plugin Modal Forms do.
Follow this, we can get a task generate by Task Board ,and now we can insert it anywhere by quickadd or templater .
The problem is , can this plugin scan the task correctly? I don't know how does it work, but it seems that it's difficult for the plugin to scan the file that wasn't open.

Nice suggestion! Actually, I had this mind from a long time for Task Board to have its own APIs, but I wasnt sure, for what should I create those APIs. I am glad you liked the Add Task Modal. This is doable and I think, we can create a FR for this. And yes, its possible to scan tasks from a note which isnt opened.

One thing, I am not sure is how everyone is using the QuickAdd and Templater plugins, I have not used them, so ill learn them first. But yes, as per your suggestion, a similar API can be made, where calling the api, will open the Add task modal and it will return the exact text, which usually goes into the notes. Will create a new FR for this.

A quick way to create a task could be:

1- A button to create a new task. This button can be positioned in each column, so that the task is added to that column, receiving the settings that that column has (undated/dated/completed and others)

2- Open a menu to select the folder/note/canva where you want to insert the task. For example, I dedicate a note to personal tasks, and for this personal task I make it a board, so all the tasks that I add there are sent to my personal tasks board, and later filtered by the columns according to dated/undated/completed and others. In other words, every time you try to create a new task, make the note that I reserved for personal tasks be edited instead of creating a new note, so that I don't have to create a new note for each new task created, as it would be too messy

3- Open a menu similar to the one that already exists (when we try to edit a task) to write the task name, date, time, priority, tags, description, recurrence (see screenshot below).

The menu in step 2 and 3 that I suggested could be one menu instead of 2 separate menus.

I don't think any plugin would have such a quick and intuitive way to create a task

Yeah, this is in the roadmap, maybe I havent described in properly. Right now, you can open the menu(the one which you have shown in the image) which you have described in step-3 using the command "Add new task in current file". But, yes, it has the limitation that your cursor should be inside a note and then only you can run this command to add the task at the cursor position.

Initially, I had the idea where, on the go you can open the Add Task Modal, and then you can select in which file this task should go to using the search menu within the Add Task Modal, to select the file. But this behavior will add the task at the end of that note, so it was not a good plan to implement this feature. But if all your tasks will be in the same file, then I think it wont be a issue to add any new task directly into that note, which will be added at the end of the note.

I will still have to learn the QuickAdd plugin first to know how they are doing it. Else, will implement the feature to add the task at the end of the selected file instead.
