Restore MOTD banner

How would I go about restoring the MOTD? In particular, I would like the system information, update counts, and system restart required information back. Something like this:

Still looking in to how to restore everything to the OP example. Should have time this evening but I think we are going to have to restore the scripts in /etc/update-motd.d/ from an unmodified Ubuntu VM. Have not found where they are getting deleted yet.
