"Protection" of the master branch

GitHub seems to suggest we "protect" the master branch.

Should we "protect" it?

I might put some safeguards around the master branch but it will be a bit unconventional. The master branch must allow for force pushes from at least some people

I'm afraid that I will break some core feature in the future since I'm still not familiar with the code yet. Maybe I should write some docs/test first.

Since there has been set a safeguard for preventing accidental force pushes (as tested in commit 18d5a53 and its comments) for most maintainers (see CONTRIBUTING.md for exceptions), the discussion is now closed.
