Does this work on non-systemd systems? i.e MX Linux #147

Description

I don't see a restore file being created in .tmux after setting the time value to 1. In the tmux webpage it says:

Linux

Help with this would be greatly appreciated. Please get in touch.
Systemd
this will only start the tmux server, it will not start any terminal emulator

To enable automatic start with systemd:

Put set -g @continuum-boot 'on' in .tmux.conf
reload tmux config with this shell command: $ tmux source-file ~/.tmux.conf
see systemd for more >details about how this is implemented

So does this work on MX Linux since it doesn't use systemd per se?
