You mentioned that you aim to try remove the currently quite tightly coupled dependency on AWS correct?
would it be possible to track the progress of that here so that people can adopt your offering once it is completed.

We can share updates here as we have them. However, I can't yet share a concrete timeline. We have a number of other changes (e.g., new features, enhancements) that must take priority in the very near term.
