Change container breakpoints

Is this the correct way to set padding / container sizes per breakpoint?

container: {
      width: {
        md: '76rem',
      },
      padding: {
        default: '2rem',
      },
    },

screens: {
      sm: '640px',
      md: '768px', // WHEN breakpoint is at 768px, make the container 76rem
      lg: '76rem',
      xl: '1280px',
    },

Or does the above ^^ change BOTH the container size and the breakpoint?
