upgrade project to v4: w is not a function

I am trying to upgrade my project at https://github.com/brianmay/penguin_nurse to v4. With commands like:

$npm install daisyui@beta

[...]

$ npx @tailwindcss/upgrade@next --force
≈ tailwindcss v4.0.6

What does this mean?

Have been looking for anything that might look like a function call to w but without success.

Is it possible this is a daisyui bug? Or have I done something stupid somewhere?

I found I had to delete the daisyui plugin from tailwind.config.js, and then the upgrade worked. After the upgrade finished, I could add it back again using the new config. https://v5.daisyui.com/docs/v5-beta/
