Drawing overlay behind menu or catching menu outside click

Hello,
We have a scenarion wheer we need to actually catch the outside click of the menu and not populating it anywhere else.
What we are trying to achive is basically having an ovelray behind the menu that will catch all the menu outside clicks.... is that possible ?
