How do I use my own template refs within a component?

If I try to <input ref="input"> inside a Headless UI component, it doesn't appear in this.$refs. The most I can do is put a template ref on the parent <Dialog ref="myRef">. I can't access any template ref deeper than that.

How can I access this template ref?
