This is just a rough idea, but I thought it might be beneficial for users who already know a bit about git, to create their own "git" from scratch in some other programming language (e.g. python).
Alternatively, performing the git commit process manually might help already: https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Git-Internals-Git-Objects
This part of the course content could be based on the 10th chapter of the above book.
Just some rough notes of my ideas...
