Server digestif:xxxxx/starting exited

Been having a problem working with LaTeX for a while now. Thanks in advance for helping!

Description 📜

Every time I open a .tex file, I get an error:

Server digestif:xxxxx/starting exited (check corresponding stderr buffer for details)

(The five digit number xxxxx is different every time.)

The stderr buffer has no useful information:

Process digestif stderr finished

I've had this issue for a long time now. I just dismiss it and keep working, though (a) it is distracting, and (b) I'm probably missing out on features because of this.

The digestif lsp server works fine on my system, perhaps you could try reinstalling or updating it. Otherwise, there are other latex backends: You could set latex-backend to company-auctex; or keep it as lsp, install the texlab lsp server and set lsp-tex-server to texlab.

Digestif

I uninstalled and reinstalled digestif via MikTeX. It didn't help. Also, something is probably off because when I write digestif --help I get an error ...t/MiKTeX/texmfs/install/scripts/digestif/digestif.texlua:11: Can't find 'digestif.zip' archive.

Texlab

I installed rust, then texlab by running cargo install --git https://github.com/latex-lsp/texlab.

How do I set lsp-tex-server to texlab? I tried in the variables of both the latex and the lsp layers, e.g.:

     (lsp :variables
          lsp-tex-server 'texlab)

But emacs still tried to use digestif.

Acutex

Setting latex-backend to company-acutex did work, though:

     (latex :variables
            latex-backend 'company-acutex)

@liwoxa can you read out the value of the variable "lsp-tex-server" in my case it is 'texlab all the time. Also if you start lsp server the message buffer reports which servers have been found and which has been selected in which order.

If lsp-mode sees both you could easily remove or rename your broken digestif installation then lsp-mode should either use the existing texlab installation or offer to autoinstall it for you.
