Configuring assets copying w/ Angular 9

Is there a recommended way to configure an Angular 9 storybook to copy assets as described here without creating an entire duplicate "storybook" project in angular.json? I tried configuring assets for the default project but since it's an ng-packagr library project the build failed due to a schema validation error.
