Add tests #5
Description
There are currently no tests in the package & we need to start somewhere.
There is a pressing need to implement tests for the lifecycle functions in deris.go, in order to ensure basic functionality without relying on main function & manual testing.
- Focus on branch coverage and edge cases that could lead to race conditions, deadlocks, or resource leaks.
