1. Description

This is a catchall for the logging and metrics improvements that we want to make.

1.1 Context & Purpose

2. Technical Details:

We should consolidate the logic for handling metrics. Instead of having these long bits of metrics logic in the middle of a function, we can move it to a function.

2.1 Acceptance Criteria:

• More logging around errors and rejected requests
• Consolidated logic for handling metrics.
