"Copy entire page" button (for LLMs)

Developers often want to copy-paste documentation into LLMs. A newly emerging pattern is to add a "Copy page as markdown" button to documentation. For example, here's a screenshot from Stripe's developer docs.

Thoughts on adding a similar feature to mkdocs-material?

We already have the content.action.view feature flag that you can enable, which allows you to inspect the Markdown:

It will directly link to the Markdown source. You can try it on our documentation on any page.

Yeah this looks great - I was thinking it would be cool to have a similar button that copied the source (saves the extra work of click -> wait -> github -> wait -> copy)

We're currently in feature freeze, so we're not adding new functionality due to ongoing foundational work.

In the meantime, this is an excellent opportunity for customization, as you'd only need to override the actions.html partial, and then add some JavaScript logic that automatically fetches the linked source and moves it to the clipboard. I think this is doable in a few lines of HTML + 20-30 lines of JavaScript, maybe less ☺️
