Open-source tools to manage digital distraction

To further the mission of the ReDD Project, I built and maintain a couple of open-source browser extensions that helps people customise websites to their needs. By sponsoring me, you support my continued development of these tools:

• MindShield: a cross-platform browser extension for Safari, Firefox, and Chrome that lets people hide any distracting elements on any website
• "No Distractions" for YouTube: a browser extension for Safari that allows people to customise YouTube to their needs
• Remove Ads from Google Search: a browser extension for Safari that allows people to apply a background color to ads on Google Search (so it's clear what someone has paid for in your information environment), or to hide them

Open-source tools for transparent and reproducible research

I also previously did a PhD in Computer Science and am passionate about open, transparent, and reproducible research. Since 2018, I have shared materials, analysis scripts, and data for all my work, and written my papers as reproducible documents in R Markdown.

I have developed a number of packages and templates for reproducible research, and so by sponsoring me you're also supporting this work:

• oxforddown for reproducible research thesis writing, formatted with a traditional University of Oxford LaTeX template for PDF output, and gitbook and BS4 book HTML output
• pagedown-cv for dynamically generating a curriculum vitae from data held in a spreadsheet into a variety of output formats, using R Markdown and pagedown
• chi-2021-rmd-template, chi20-papers-rmarkdown, chi-proc-rmd-template & chi-ea-template, for writing reproducible submissions in R Markdown to the ACM CHI conference
