Hi! I'm Martin Fouilleul, an independent researcher and systems programmer working on software development and deployment technologies. I'm currently building Orca, a novel programming and runtime environment for building and distributing portable graphical applications.

By sponsoring me, you're supporting my research and helping me make swift progress on Orca. My goal is to work full time on this to bring better tools to developers and better software to users.

Orca is a development and runtime environment for building and distributing portable graphical applications.

With Orca, we propose to tear down the Web Browser stack and rebuild it from the ground up as an application-centric platform, on top of which we can build transclusion, hyperlinking and dynamic document models at a much lower cost. We aim to provide the same benefits as web apps, such as ease of distribution, portability and sandboxing, without the weight of a whole web browser and the complexity brought by the web stack.

But more than a portability layer, Orca's goal is to provide a better development and deployment platform, where you can interactively build apps in a live, observable environment, and share them as easily as sending a URL.
