Error when running the make lint command

Description

When running make lint on the latest master branch, golangci-lint fails to read its config file with the following error:

golangci-lint run
ERRO Can't read config: can't unmarshal config by viper: 1 error(s) decoding:

* 'Version' expected a map, got 'string'
make: *** [Makefile:48: lint-go] Error 3

Observations

• Updating to the latest golangci-lint version does not resolve the issue.
• The repo’s .golangci.yml file starts with: version: "2" wich should be valid syntax

Update I manage to run the linter with golangci-lint run but still its not working with the make lint command.
