SiPM is Working but the detector is not reading any signals

Hello! It has been really fun to work on this project. However, we are running into some issues. When we attach the wrapped scintillator to the board, we do not get any meaningful signal as we expected.

However, we are confident the SiPM is working as it is responding to the visible light when the scintillator is not attached. Do you have any suggestions on what could have gone wrong? Here are some pictures of the SiPM board and the wrapped scintillator. Thank you!

Hi, Thanks for the email. I wouldn’t trust that your visible light test means that the SiPM is properly connected. I would first try adding some more tap, to ensure that it’s light tight. Even the smallest pinhole leak will prevent it from working. If that doesn’t solve your problem, it’s likely the SiPM. I could not check the orientation on the board with your images, however, make sure that it’s correctly aligned and rotated. Best, Spencer ─ Dr. Spencer N.
