[bug] invalid compression flag:

**Describe the bug**
Trying to read a plaintext file of size `72927` bytes fails with the following error.
```
    message: "protocol error: received message with invalid compression flag: 60 (valid flags are 0 and 1) while receiving response with status: 502 Bad Gateway",
```

**To Reproduce**
Run cat tome on a medium sized file.

**Expected behavior**
Doesn't crash.
