Updating Ax Version

Hi,

would it be possible to update the ax version this repo uses?
I noticed the pin here ax-platform < 0.5

Reason for the request: We cannot simultaneously use the repo with latest package version of some BO packages like e.g. baybe>=0.13.0 due to incompatible botorch requirements

Is ax actually used for any core functionality of the sdl kit (as opposed to utilities and demo scripts)? If not it could be worth to make it an optional dependency so it doesn't interfere in that way

perhaps even lazily importing ax in the respective places instead of greedily at the top of the entire file would also solve the issue here. We don't use any of the ax functionality but its still imported somewhere internally causing our problem -> lazy ax import would solve this

Definitely can adjust to accommodate. I'll respond later today with a bit more detail, and hopefully release the changes today too. The top-level init.py import is certainly problematic. I just need to make sure of consistency between some of the utils, the colab notebook, and the unit tests. It uses a syntax that was removed in ax-platform=0.5, otherwise I'd be able to bump it immediately.
