what's wrong with downloading snapshot?

Error: unexpected error: permission denied

the data dict has all permission as "777".

I guess it tries to determine the go-spacemesh version by running a ./go-spacemesh version

If there is a need for version detection, allowing users to specify version manually as an optional parameter would be a useful improvement.
This would help in scenarios where quicksync is being used in alternative use cases, such as downloading elsewhere to work around space limitations.

You could download the snapshot directly using wget or a similar tool to the desired temporary location and unpack manually.
