TouchableOpacity, hitSlop and Android - cannot get to work.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I cannot seem to get hitSlop to work with TouchableOpacity in Android. Is there a trick I'm missing? It works as expected in iOS.

  <Text>Click me!</Text>
</TouchableOpacity>

I'm struggling to believe it's a bug as it would have been reported by now given the libraries number of users.

Also, is there any performance benefit (or other) of using RNGH's version of TouchableOpacity over ReactNative's?
