Could not detect Network

I'm on a windows pc and doing the ethers.js simple storage tutorial locally. So I followed instructions and connected to ubuntu via vs code however this has become an issue because there was no instruction on how to go about ganache... I assume this is the problem (ganache being on my windows pc whilst I try to connect to it via ubuntu...) Does anyone have any idea regarding how to go about this?
