Lesson 6: no matching function (argument="key", value="deployed", code=invalid_argument, version=6.6.2)

when i deploy the contract to the testnet it throw me this error

TypeError: no matching function (argument="key", value="deployed", code=INVALID_ARGUMENT, version=6.6.2)

this is the deploy script

async function main() {
  const SimpleStorage = await ethers.getContractFactory('SimpleStorage');
  const simpleStorage = await SimpleStorage.deploy();
  await simpleStorage.deployed();

  console.log('SimpleStorage deployed to:', simpleStorage.address);

  .then(() => process.exit(0))
  .catch((error) => {
    console.error(error);
    process.exit(1);
  });

can anyone help me to resolve this issue?

you have an issue with version of ethers and hardhat.

@ayushkavad , if you're using the latest version! Try this,

  const simpleStorageFactory = await ethers.deployContract("SimpleStorage");
  await simpleStorageFactory.waitForDeployment();
  console.log("Deploying....");
  console.log(`Deployed contract to ${await simpleStorageFactory.getAddress() }`)

Hi Karthick, I was facing the same issue. I tried running your code and now i'm getting a diffent error as follows

Error: factory runner does not support sending transactions (operation="sendTransaction", code=UNSUPPORTED_OPERATION, version=6.6.2)

Thanks for reaching out @KarthickSakthi I was able to fix the issue after checking the hardhat docs again. Here's the updated code if anyone else runs into a similar error.

  const [deployer] = await ethers.getSigners(); // square brackets!!
  console.log(`Deployer Address -> ${deployer.address}`);
  console.log("Deploying...");
  const simpleStorage = await ethers.deployContract("SimpleStorage");
  console.log(`Contract Address -> ${await simpleStorage.getAddress()}`);

You can downgrade your ethers to version 5.7.2 in your package.json and run yarn install.

If you are using ethers v6 then try this:

await simpleStorage.getAddress()
