Lost permissions to access files

Overview

I was facing write access issue in vscode files, after which I tried reinstalling my WSL and Ubuntu.
This led to a new issue and now I am unable to enter the folder where I have all my coding files.

This is the "permission" error pop-up:

What's the best path for me forward? Any help would mean a lot. Thank you! 🙏
