When running any js scripts in the terminal, nothing is being returned

When running any js scripts in the terminal, nothing is being returned.

For instance I have a script with simply:

console.log("1");
console.log("2");

Then running in the terminal:

node deploy.js

which returns nothing

This is a new computer that has few coding tools setup. The issue may also be related to using a zsh shell?
