I have tried quite a few things in the course 'How to Connect your Smart Contracts to Metamask | Full Stack Web3'.
Always end up with the error below. It's always due to const {ethers} = require("ethers")
When commented out it works. Than when I try adding it to bundle.js after parsing it gives error on 'require' function.
Also copied from your repo @PatrickAlphaC , still got the 'Unexpected Token error'. Also tried importing manually (seen below)
Any idea?

I did clone from repo as well, worked fine. But why the error when I try parsing from scratch ?

Error in browser console when I import const { ethers } = require("ethers"); manually after browserified

@paulcoffee85 I am not familiar with this error but here is my latest repo where I have connected frontend and backend it will help you LINK. And if this does not help you then let me know I will try your code locally to see any issues. Feel free to ask anything!

I'll let you know when I get to the browserify error when having problems parsing when const { ethers } = require("ethers");
gives the error SyntaxError: Unexpected token (248:4) while parsing....

Ok, so far all good. Patrick fails to mention a few things that are integral to the browserify parsing process which required some research.

Hey,

I'd recommend checking the version of ethers your are using in your project in package.json. Hit the same error when on ethers > 6. Try to use ^5.0.0 😉
