Error: invalid hexlify value

This particular line of code has been giving me the following error message.

What could be the possible error. My code is literally Patrck's copy.

I printed process.env and this was the response that I got

It also has the RPC_URL in the .env file but that is not printed here.
As for when I run process.env.PRIVATE_KEY I'm getting "undefined" as my output

@harshuo2 make sure PRIVATE_KEY is in the .env file, and require("dotenv").config(); is added at the top, and spelling is correct where you are using it.

Inside the .env file add a private key like this: PRIVATE_KEY=14313241232314324134132........, same for RPC URL.

And in the deploy script, do not store it in any variable directly use it where you need it like this: process.env.PRIVATE_KEY, same for RPC URL and make sure spellings.

@ali-thegilfoyle Yup, I've kept all those issues in check but I'm still getting this issue. My computer is not able to read anything that is written in the .env file. Except for the PRIVATE_KEY_PASSWORD. Could there be any error with the encryptedJsonKey.js file?

@harshuo2 no encryptedJsonKey.js is not a problem, it was a solution to secure keys, but for learning purposes, we can add keys in the .env file and access it, as you saw Patric did the same. So this is no an issue.

Mine had no spaces like so

Yeah true, I got the same error (';' expected) but oddly enough the script still deployed perfectly despite that.

Also, while doing process.env.PRIVATE_KEY, I'm getting TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'toHexString')

I got the answer to this issue. I updated all my node modules and updated my wsl. Then restarting VS Code and a little bit of debugging did the job for me.
