HardHat install error

Everytime i run "yarn add --dev hardhat", i run into some kind of new error. I've been trying to tinker with it for a while too see if i can try to install or update the dependecies but i am not able to come to a resolution. Here is my current error message
$ yarn add --dev hardhat
yarn add v1.22.15

are you running the command from your project folder?
is your yarn.lock in your project folder or in a higher folder?

i am in the hardhat-simple-storage-fcc
i am not sure on how to determine where my yarn.lock is

If you're on Mac, make sure you're inside your project folder in Terminal and type ls
That'll give you the list of stuff in that folder. Or simply look through the folder in Finder.

I'm having problems with its location too, and I found yarn.lock and "node_modules" etc., installed 2 folders up for some reason..
