.getContract where can i find documentation

One thing I've started to notice about hardhat docs is a lot of stuff i cant find.
Can anyone point me to some documentation about .getContract

Ive seen this: https://hardhat.org/hardhat-runner/plugins/nomiclabs-hardhat-ethers#helpers

And if there is no documentation how does a developer find out that .getContract even exist?

Hardhat is a wrapper around ethers.js

Thank you how did u find this documentation, i can only seem to find v5.4

If I remember correctly, Patrick mention it briefly. He say something like hardhat uses ethers, or hardhat builds upon ethers

But a good indicator is import statements:
require("@nomiclabs/hardhat-ethers");
const { ethers, run, network } = require("hardhat"); <-- with this import, I see that the Hardhat npm package contains an object called ethers
Then I just did a web search for ethers.js
