Metamask not connecting to localhost network

Hello Everyone !! I have run into an issue connecting my "Metamask" with localhost network.
Any of your help would be highly appreciated !!

When I try to add a "New Network" in metamask and add my RPC URL and ChainId it gives an error ....

Could not fetch chain ID. Is your RPC URL correct?

When I try to save the network is shows

My hardhat localhost is running in the background

What should I do I'm stuck is there any alternative :)

does this has to do anything relating to my computer.

check if you add another localhost network to your metamask . if you do remove it and try again maybe this help you.

but if you cant use local host please check if you :
1- import a hardhat node account to your metamask
2- check if you run your node in your terminal

Hi, I have the same issue. I tried uininstalling/reinstalling node JS. I also tried removing the local host network from my metamask, but I can't add a local host to my network, because metamask says it can't fetch the chain ID. Node Js is running in my termainal.

wait, never mind. I ran npx hardhat node again, and I have managed to successfully connect to the network.
