New Hardhat version issue

Hi! I have copied hardhat-config.js and package.json from my repo and ran npm install, npx hardhat and npm init.
Now when i try to compile i happen to see this error. what could be wrong ?
Any ideas?

yarn didn't work?

Yarn is not compatible with my old windows and always gives me an error. hence I always work with npm which is pretty smooth.
AND i tried reiinstalling tool-box but Nops.

@othaime-en I just have a General question about Github. So I have figured there are two ways to help. Either explain the issue in comments and chat and help them to fix it (RIGHT WAY) AND Other way that's known an EasyWay -Simply fixed someone's issue and change their code and let them pull it. DONE. I have always hated this kinda of help.IN this i don't understand and learn anything. there is no explanation in there. they simply fix your code and leave you hanging to figure. lol

My first question is - Why usually everyone Prefer to FIX your code and change everything rather than explaining you things in comments and let you fix on your own?
Is there any kinda badge they get when the change ones code? lol

AND how can i stop people to change my repo. When i ask for help.All I mean is in comments and please explain what and how it could be fixed.I don't want people to change anything in my repo.

What would be your answers to it.I might sounds harsh but I am not.Either i need to tell people in advance dont touch my code or how does it work?

@MasterofBlockchain okay sometimes, explaining all the changes especially if there are multiple places where the code needs to be changed is hectic, so most people prefer to push changes to your repo so that you can see them and and understand the context of the change. However, the best practice for pushing changes to someone else's repo is accompanying an little explanation of why you pushed the changes or how the new changes will help. Sadly, most people don't offer sufficient explanation in their pull requests. Both methods (explaining in comments and pushing changes) are useful and some scenarios need one or the other but it is best if both methods are used at the same (I prefer this approach). It is better to push changes and accompany them with explanation either on the pull request discussion page or here in the comments. Most people prefer pushing though because they hope the code changes are self-explanatory. You could always request additional information and explanation if you feel the don't understand the changes made.

Regarding restricting changes...well, technically, they can't directly change your code without your permission. I mean yes they can make changes but you have to accept the changes also known as merge for them to be included in your main codebase. In you case, you could just be reviewing the pull request they've made and make those changes yourself in the code once you understand them. And if you feel like you don't like the changes or if you feel they'll interfere with your code, you can always close the pull request. YEAH! So its them not me. I am always hating when i get my code changed with no explanation. And even after asking they stop answering. BTW i have got the idea and the understanding more clear how it works. thanks my man. you are great at explaining.

Try running npx hardhat clean, then compile

changing hardhat Version is the only way to fix it since new version ain't Compatible.

You have no idea @othaime-en and @krakxn I don't even know if problem is bigger or smaller. if i get stuck I always think it must be me and try to figure to fix it. So this approach helped me to find a way. haha

@MasterofBlockchain That indeed is the best way to learn (at least for me), do not worry!

Also, copy dependencies (versions of the packages in package.json) from the course's repo as those are usually recommended versions and can avoid situations like these.

I don't use Patrick's repo. Because they are not 'toolbox' friendly. And I have seen people using his repo and also using Toolbox does make no sense to me. So I chose to go toolbox way and even if I get stuck I happen to learn and people like you are always there to help.

In the future, if such a problem arises it is so because Hardhat uses its own versions for the following packages (Hardhat toolbox is essentially the "mixture" of the following, and hence uses arbitrary versions for them):

Consequently, in such situations, sometimes you can use the versions in the course to eliminate any possibility of the dependencies at fault.

@MasterofBlockchain Could you push the node_modules folder as well, just so I can go through the stack-trace (the errors in the terminal). If not, that is fine as well; I can download myself in that case.

Eveything could broke my code and system. since its a old window.lol
I don't want to struggle with my compupter while running this version.I guess i will leave it here and try to find a way to fix it BTW thanks or if you have any idea you could let me know because it was working all good with other contracts so I'm sureNPM version wont be an issue.

I agree. The cause was the pragma line because I used the same directory as yours. Did you try a new directory as well?

Nevertheless, it is okay. As an alternative, I suppose you can grasp the concept instead, by "experimenting" and practicing in Remix.

Yes! I tried with new directory. For me learning is not the just the coding but learning the basic tools and its error as well. I like to learn while understanding. Since it is not working now i will try to make a new repo and download everything Manually there. lol

I aslo install hardhat@2.8.3 but it gives me same error, did your problem solved with @2.8.3 version?

I am using this version and it does not have any Error.You might want to try this as well.
