Problem lies in hardhat.config.js, inside rinkeby in the networks inside accounts:. Cross-check the PRIVATE_KEY

Also, please close any other discussions which are answered. They aid others in similar problems.

i have cross checked the PRIVATE_KEY.....still it is not working for me

Also, cross-check if it is correct with MetaMask (or whichever one you are using).

If the above is still correct, check if the PRIVATE_KEY in the .env file is contains double quotes, which should not be there, i.e. not a string.

Also, in hardhat.config:

accounts: PRIVATE_KEY !== undefined ? [PRIVATE_KEY] : [],

You get the private key of your account from your wallet

If I add an extra number to the PRIVATE_KEY= in my .env file then I reproduce your error mistake:

i dont know how to do that. I followed Patrick, the way he pushed the fund_me contract......but in someway i created mess for myself.
