I can't cd into my any files

I am at lesson 15 where we are writing to our constants folder containing the .json objects. I had trouble with not being able to find the file so I manually cd'd directory by directory until I was in the constants folder and when I tried to cd into the networkMapping.json I got the (cd: not a directory: addressMapping.json) error. I have replicated this error as seen below. Any idea on why this might be happening?

I even tried dragging and dropping the file into my terminal after writing cd and still got this error

I have also tried using bash instead of zsh

That happens because cd is to navigate through directories. You cannot "navigate" a file, hence the error which depicts "...xyz is not a directory..."

What is it precisely that you want to do?

Thanks for the tip about how cd works ! I thought that might be the case and was just trying to troubleshoot with cd. I am trying to run this line of code which is failing because my path is somehow wrong. I am not sure how this is the case because I used the command to directly copy the path and just replaced /Users/haven/blockchain-projects/nextjs-nft-marketplace-moralis/constants/network.json with ../nextjs-nft-marketplace-moralis/constants/networkMapping.json because nextjs-nft-marketplace-moralis and nft-backend (were I am writing my code) are in the same folder on my laptop.

@cipher222 As @krakxn mentioned above you cannot navigate the files and that is why you are facing the issue. Here are the tips to use the command line and through it, you can easily find your folder and files.

Now you have to tell your 99-update-frontend file about the location of the JSON file that you want to update with this script. For that, you first navigate to the deploy folder location.

here are tips:

cd .. means one step/folder back.

In the command line, type cd ../ from the deploy folder location (do not press enter until you find the file) and press tab. You will see all of the folders of the lottery project. Now append further command with an above command like this cd ../../. This time it will show you all of the folders where your lottery project folder is placed. With the same pattern, you have to go back until you find your frontend project, and when you find it just appends it with the above command like this cd ../../nextjs-lottery-frontend/constants/

After every / if you press the tab, it will show you files and folders based on it you can easily navigate. It works like the ls command.

Also, a single dot . means "this folder"; whereas double dots .. depict the "previous folder".
