How to connect to metamask course. 19:41 deploy on "yarn hardhat node"

At 19:41 of "How to connect to metamask " course. When @PatrickAlphaC runs "yarn hardhat node" , his contract deploys simple-storage, outputs a contract address and all the accounts. Mine doesn't do that, it just lists the accounts. I also notice that .vscode does not appear in my VSC explorer after running 'yarn add http-server'. Why is this and is .vscode the reason for the contract deploying in the video ? ?
Any assistance is much appreciated. These f'n setbacks are holding me back hours/days.

As I have been following along and running the same commands as in the course video. I've tried couple of times from scratch. But I do not get the same results.
Both of these commands did not execute the following.

1. "yarn add http-server" @ https://youtu.be/pdsYCkUWrgQ?t=616 | .vscode is added to the work folder,
2. "yarn hardhat node" @ https://youtu.be/pdsYCkUWrgQ?t=1168 | Compiles & deploys simple-storage contract at a given address.

If you want to connect Hardhat to this node, you just need to run using --network localhost
