Turning off and on an area can put appliance into a loop, locking up the appliance

Just installed HA, turned the kitchen area off not knowing what it would do. Fridge looped attempting to set Sabbath mode, UI of the fridge flashed off and on SA - this was despite me not setting it. Oven UI locked into Sabbath mode, unresponsive to HA setting changes or SmartHQ setting changes.
