First off, I just want to say how much I appreciate the incredible work you’re doing with Talos OS. The security, simplicity, and immutability are game-changing—especially for infrastructure that demands reliability and automation at scale. It's clear that a lot of thought and passion has gone into this project.

I’m currently working on a significant project for a client where we’re leveraging Raspberry Pi devices in a Kubernetes cluster. Talos is the perfect fit for our use case, both in terms of operational model and security posture. However, we're running into a roadblock—Raspberry Pi 5 is not yet supported.

Given the improved performance and capabilities of the Pi 5, it’s the ideal hardware for this deployment. Being able to run Talos on Pi 5 would be a game-changer, not just for us but for many in the community who are building edge solutions or small-scale clusters with real-world use cases.

If there’s any chance the team could prioritize or guide the process for enabling Pi 5 support—especially bootloader, DTBs, and the necessary compatibility changes—it would mean the world. I’d be more than happy to help test, debug, or contribute in any way I can. This support would make a huge difference in delivering this project successfully and continuing to advocate for Talos in production environments.

Thank you for your support. We cannot support the raspberry pi 5 until the upstream projects we depend on add support. If you would like Raspberry Pi 5 support please contribute to u-boot (our SBC bootloader) or the Linux Kernel (we use LTS kernels).

There are community forks of Talos available that re-compile the kernel with some hardware support but it's not something we can maintain. If you would like to pay for Talos support we can discuss a contract and requirements to maintain a fork of Talos.
