Hello,

I'm working on QMesh, which is developing a LoRa-based mesh network that can support streaming voice.

Codec2 Walkie Talkie, especially the most recent revisions, has basically covered everything that I wanted/needed for a codec2-based voice app:

1. KISS-over-TCP/IP support. In practice, this is a lot easier (and more flexible) than doing KISS over Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol).
2. Record/playback is kinda handy too.
3. PTT hardware button support. There's a whole bunch of these Chinese PTT Zello Android smartphones that have a hardware PTT button. Supporting this allows for easy integration here.
4. Better commanding of the KISS modem. I just need to adapt the QMesh device to speak their extended KISS protocol.
5. Can aggregate multiple codec2 frames into one KISS frame. This helps a lot with throughput, as the QMesh LoRa frames have a decent amount of overhead. I always envisioned that QMesh frames would hold four (160ms) codec2 frames.
6. It looks like it supports using some noise cancellation/reduction features in Android. Since vocoders tend to fall over with sounds that aren't human voice, this probably helps real-world usability a lot.
