QuantStack’s Snakepit: Mamba, Boa, Quetz

QuantStack announced the Snakepit organization today, including:

• The initial release of Quetz, the first open-source server for conda packages, supporting multiple channels, and a role-based access controls for channels and packages.
• The new version of Mamba, a (very) fast and reliable drop-in replacement for conda, written in C++.
• The development of the Boa project, a replacement for conda-build leveraging the improved performances of Mamba.

This repository will contain specs that describe how conda, the platform agnostic package manager, internally works. We'll try to distill our knowledge on what conda packages are made of, how the repodata.json file is structured and so on.

Boa could be interesting to us in the short term.

On a related note, I recently encountered the well-named marcelotrevisani/grayskull which is intended as a replacement for conda skeleton:

The Grayskull project was created with the intention to eventually replace the conda skeleton . The main goal of this project is to generate concise recipes for conda-forge.
