TCPS and wallet support for oracle connections

Hey,

I was wondering if connectorx supports tcps protocol and a wallet directory using the oracle uri string. Can I specify this via parameters e.g. ?protocol=tcps&wallet_dir=/path/to/wallet_dir in the uri? I did not found any documentation on this and wanted to ask first before digging further.

Hi @Seb-Lorek, my use case is similar to yours. I found Connector-X supports TNS alias. You can present your url in the long service name format.
Then, set alias to true. Connetor X will bypass the service name string to ODPI-C.
The following URL works for me. You can probably change the protocol or assign the wallet_dir yourself.

oracle://username:pwd@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(host=localhost)(protocol=TCP)(port=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=TESTING_DB)))?alias=true

Hey @goldmedal, thanks for your answer. Apparently u were able to connect by directly passing the full connection string instead of an alias. As far as I understand it the flag ?alias=true is used to define an alias in the URI like oracle://username:pwd@mydb?alias=true. Where the entry for mydb is then read from the tnsnames.ora file, that is found through the environment variable $TNS_ADMIN. Now my additional difficulty is to use TCPS as protocol instead of just TCP. I think I need then to figure out how to correctly specify settings to connect over TCPS, e.g. configure the wallet and specify the sqlnet.ora file.
