npm Installation Error

Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS - 64bit
npm version: 8.5.5
Node.js: v16.14.2
Running npm install serialport gives the following error

Do you have full permissions to the node_modules folder? is the issue due to lack of execution permissions?
