GHelper can cause issues with waking up from sleep?

Hello,

I got a Zephyrus G16 2025 last week and I switched to GHelper just a few days ago.
Today I encountered a new behavior. Once the laptop screen turns off, it refuses to turnn back on. On one occasion, I think it was in sleep mode. On the other occasion, I know for a fact the laptop itself was running as Spotify was playing music on it and in my attempt to wake up the screen, I managed to skip songs. The screen remained black, however.

The only change since my initial switch to GHelper is that I put the GPU mode to Ultimate yesterday.

Could GHelper be causing this behavior? Or is this a hardware concern potentially?
Should the ultimate mode only be used if I'm gaming and switched off to standard or whichever else when I'm not?

It doesn't look like a hardware issue, and most likely it's unrelated to G-Helper as well (as it's not handling display anyway).

It looks more like Nvidia driver hiccup. When MUX switch is toggled (i.e Ultimate mode in AC / G-Helper / BIOS settings) it's a different display configuration from windows/driver standpoint as now Nvidia directly runs internal screen. Does same happen when laptop is in Standard mode too ?

Try to do a clean Nvidia driver reinstall using latest driver from Nvidia website (check Factory Reset) or even use DDU. It often helps with driver-related issues.

Hello seerge,

Eventually, I came across screensaver being turned on somewhere. Not sure what turned it on or if those were remnants of the default install of the OS. I can't say for sure, but I think having turned that off solved the issue.

I do experience the screen still turning off for a brief moment after startup or when I go off/on charger. Could this be related to some settings that maybe be changing in the background due to on battery/charging status changing? Or is this normal?

Mmy apologies for the basic questions. I've never had a laptop of any kind at all. Or a strong PC of any kind. So I'm not sure what to expect or what is normal.

When you unplug / plug in - it changes refresh rate from maximum to 60hz and back :) So it's normal that screen goes black for a second then.

You can set fixed refresh rate instead of Auto in the Display section and it won't change then.

I've been using 60hz everywhere aside the ultimate mode that is dedicated for gaming. But I noticed that the refresh rate does not stay 60hz. It would default back to 240 whenever. It doesn't seem to be connected to mode changes. I could be using my browsing mode all day. Turn the PC off. Next day I turn it on and it's in my browsing mode at 240hz again.

@Neowyne hello, unless you have selected Auto in the display section app would not try to change refresh rate at all, and just show currently active one.

Do you have Asus Smart Display installed? If so - could try to force refresh rate (you can remove it)

Also it could be some setting under Intel display controls (as in Standard / Eco it's iGPU handling the screen)
